Tyler's 1st Birthday

It's hard to believe that a full year has already gone by since we were blessed with Tyler. We have had so much fun with him - and know this has only just begun! Tyler had his first birthday party on Saturday, June 13. He was lucky enough to be joined by lots of family and friends (even his Auntie Kathryn and Auntie Hayley flew in from Atlanta to celebrate!). We wanted to make Tyler's first party extra special, so we hired his music teacher, Miss Cathy, to join us and put on a music show for all of the babies. All of the kids sang and danced and had a blast!

After the show, Tyler showed us that he truly LOVES cake...but he's not too scared to share! He fed cake to both mommy and daddy, which was very cute. A lot of his baby friends have been very timid when it comes to cake time and just pushed the cake away, but not Tyler! He dug in and had a blast. Now whenever he sees a picture of cake or see cake in the house, he says "mmmmm"!

On Tyler's actual birthday, June 16, daddy stayed home from work. This was such a nice treat for both Tyler and mommy! :) We unfortunately had to begin the day with a visit to Dr Goodman's office to get Tyler's one year shots. Because we were leaving for Europe the next week, we wanted to get them as soon as possible in case of any reaction (luckily he had none!). At the doctor's visit, we soon realized that Tyler definitely remembered that he HATES going to the doctor. As soon as the nurse came in to take his temperature and measurements, Tyler started to freak out. Poor thing. Luckily, we were out of there quickly and ready to begin the big birthday celebration. After a nice long nap, we took Tyler for his 1st trip to the Palm Beach Zoo. We saw flamingos, jaguars, fish and all sorts of animals. After the zoo, we got home and invited Tyler's grandparents and aunt over for dinner. Because it was his birthday, we ate only things that Tyler likes - pizza and cake!! It was so nice for Tyler to spend time with his family and recount all the memories of his first year. Just before bed, Tyler also showed off and took his first 5 steps in a row. Way to go, Tyler!!
